![]() I loved my mom’s squash, BUT sometimes it’s okay to mess with tradition when it’s for a good reason! I remember she would cut the whole squash in half and roast both halves with a little bit of butter and brown sugar. When I was a little girl, my mom used to bake acorn squash and the sweet smell would fill up the whole kitchen. The skin is way thicker and more challenging to cut through on an acorn squash, but it’s SO delicious and worth the labor. Who doesn’t love roasted acorn squash on a gorgeous fall day? The rest of the year, I stick to my comfort zone (butternut squash) since it’s very common to find and easier to handle.Īcorn squash, just like its name suggests, looks like a giant acorn! It has a thick green skin, orange flesh inside and a bunch of seeds that you will need to scoop out. I love it! Naturally, I took several home with me. Remember, in order to get many of the benefits of squash (carotenoids and vitamin A), you need to consume your squash with a fat, such as olive oil, nuts, seeds or full-fat dairy. The farmers markets are crawling with acorn squash this time of the year. Slice the squash down the centre, scoop out the seeds and roast it with your favourite filling (minced meat, tofu, chickpeas or lentils, for example). Pro tip: try your hand at stuffed delicata squash. Frozen squash is just as nutritious and can take some of the prep work out of cooking too. Season with salt and pepper and enjoy it roasted on its own or toss it on top of a salad or blend into a soup. Peeling and chopping butternut squash can be laborious but this preparation makes it easy to roast. Try adding it to oatmeal and smoothies or mix it into plain Greek yoghurt to make your own pumpkin-flavoured breakfast. Canned pumpkin-the only ingredient should be pumpkin-is an easy and affordable way to add squash to your diet. It's all about personal taste preference, accessibility and comfort in the kitchen. Routinely making swaps like these can help prevent chronic diseases linked to inflammation. Swapping refined carbohydrates-such as white pasta or bread-for baked acorn squash at dinner, or ditching sugary cereals at breakfast for a homemade pumpkin chia pudding can provide all of the above benefits. Squash's nutrient profile, in particular, makes it an excellent player in the fight against chronic inflammation. (Related: Dietitian-approved, High-protein Snacks To Eat After a Workout) However, when inflammation becomes chronic-meaning it is triggered for a prolonged period of time-it can stimulate the development of diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, autoimmune disease, neurological disease and cancer.Īs simple as it may sound, one major way to prevent or combat chronic inflammation is to consume a diet that's rich in fruits, vegetables, unrefined grains, unsaturated fats and lean proteins- research supports this suggestion above all other dietary fads. It occurs when there is exposure to an allergen or toxin, when an injury happens or during an infection to help kick-start the healing process. But first, it's important to note that inflammation is a necessary function in the body. Instead of noshing on plain steamed squash, for example, make sure you drizzle some healthy fats, such as olive oil, on top to ensure optimal absorption of those skin-nourishing compounds.Ī review article in a 2021 issue of the journal Biomedicines examined the anti-inflammatory effects of diet on healthy ageing. This means that in order to be absorbed in the body, they need to be in the presence of fat. But, before you go and gobble up numerous plates of squash in the hopes of promoting youthful skin, it's important to note that carotenoids are fat-soluble. ![]() This information matched the theory, also discussed in the paper, that higher levels of antioxidants in the skin help protect against ageing. A review paper published in a 2011 issue of the journal Molecules, described that high carotenoid levels in the skin helped individuals appear younger, although that metric is subjective. Beta-carotene also supports the growth and turnover of new skin cells. For context, free radicals are a type of harmful molecule that can build up in cells and cause damage to things like DNA and proteins. Beta-carotene in squash, for example, supports skin health by fighting damage done to the skin by free radicals. Research indicates that carotenoids are among the strongest antioxidants. Prior to macOS Mojave’s arrival in 2018, the installers for the older macOS versions could be searched for or found via the Purchased tab (not that anyone has had to pay for a Mac OS X update for years). How easy they are to find will be determined by the version of macOS running on that Mac. If you are running an older version of macOS – or someone you know is – you should be able to easily find older versions of macOS and even Mac OS X in the Mac App Store. The older macOS might not support certain components in that Mac, for example. Usually, when Apple introduces a new Mac it will not be able to run the version of macOS that shipped before the one installed on that Mac. You may also encounter issues if you are trying to download an older version of macOS that your Mac cannot support. In that case, we suggest you try to download the installer via that link using an older Mac. This is an issue we are aware of that others have encountered, although we haven’t. However, if you are still finding that the link isn’t working you could try the alternative methods below.Īnother issue is if the link takes you to the correct page in the Mac App Store, but you see an Update not found error message when you try to download it. If the Mac App Store links above aren’t working While the above versions of macOS will work with newer Intel-based Macs, the following versions are specifically made for Macs with Intel chips. How to download an older version of macOS for an Intel Mac Follow the instructions in the Monterey section above.Follow the Mac App Store link using Safari to open the Big Sur page. ![]() You should be able to find the “Install macOS Monterey” app in your Applications folder, which you can use to to downgrade and install an older version of macOS.If you do, the installer will automatically be deleted (plus it won’t install if you are already running Ventura). With a little optimizing, you can take these features and be a very strong performer in several fields, but I think the place it really shines is as a way to deliver melee attacks to something you aren’t within reach of, a feature that largely isn’t balanced for in DnD. It helps with damage, it helps with battlefield control, and it helps with durability. Mechanically, Echo Knight is a powerhouse. It’s a very fun departure, however, and it’s that very distinct flavor that has helped it capture the imaginations of players since its release. Most other subclasses are some kind of paragon of martial and physical excellence (Eldritch and Rune Knights aside, but they have very tangible, intuitive sources of their power). This interpretation of the rules relies on the belief that specific beats general and that the rules for a feat are more specific than the general rules regarding teleportation/opportunity attacks.Echo Knight almost feels out of place as a fighter subclass, but then again I can’t really think of a better place to put it beyond making a new class and sticking every Gish flavor there. Since teleporting into someone's reach involves entering their reach we can assume that the prerequisites for an opportunity attack via the polearm master feat are met. While wielding a glaive, halberd, pike, or quarterstaff, other creatures provoke an opportunity attack from you when they enter your reach. So in normal circumstances it would be impossible for a teleport to trigger an opportunity attack. You also don't provoke an opportunity attack when you teleport or when someone or something moves you without using your movement, action, or reaction. The rules for how teleportation works with opportunity attacks without polearm master are as follows: This example adds the busybox container to the mynet network: When you start a container, use the -network flag to connect it to a network. I don't think that donating all of his latinum in order to prove his loyalty and love was the right way to resolve that. He has very reasonable trauma from his first marriage that was really brushed aside. Can you imagine going up to someone and saying "You're the least (insert minority of your choice here) I know," and then claiming that that was a good thing? I also didn't like that Rom was the only one making sacrifices and changing who he was to make the relationship work. Ultimately, did anything in this episode really matter beyond Quark getting his business license back? Like I said, the episode was fine, but there's nothing here that makes me want to rewatch it or makes me glad that I spent the hour seeing it in the first place.Īs much as I enjoy Rom and Leeta and think that they're cute, their subplot here really felt wrong to me. Like "Family Business" they seemed to be brushed aside in favor of a plot resolution that maintained the status quo and didn't interrogate Ferengi culture too deeply. I'm also not sure how I feel about Ishka and how her ideas of gender equality were treated. Even if that means another Ferengi-centric episode. There's some potentially really interesting stories and drama there. If anything, I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get to explore Zek's memory issues in more depth or more seriously. The resolution all happened off-screen and it didn't really raise the stakes all that much. I'm not quite sure how we made the jump from a standard sitcom romance plot to 'You just doomed the entire economy!' although I suppose that it didn't really matter. I don't even really have a lot to say about it other than it really could have been worse and I'm thankful that it wasn't. It's nothing that hasn't been seen before a million times in a million different places. The plot was just incredibly predictable and tedious. I kept smiling whenever someone would pop up in Quark's closet, which is basically equal to a laugh when you're watching TV by yourself. And I was surprised to find that the episode was.
